Ouch!

Carson, Madison, and I had our flu shots this morning. I was so proud of Carson. I think the staff were worried that he would freak out. A little girl screamed and cried over her shot just before us. Not Carson. He said "Ouch" then started giggling! Madison barely whimpered when she received hers. The kids do not seem affected by it at all. It is a different story for me. I started feeling bad about 30 minutes afterward and have felt sick all day. I've never had a reaction to the flu shot before. Hopefully bedtime will come soon!

Happy Halloween

We all had such a great time Trick or Treating. It did not take the kids long to get it all figured out. Carson would grab Madison's hand and lead her up to the door and then would not leave until Madison was given a treat! After a while Madison got bored with going to the doors and just wanted to run around. It was so funny to watch her run as fast as her little legs would carry her with a tutu on! We just went to some houses near ours and Carson's bag was so full by the time we finished.

MATSURI date

A few of the cast members after the show.

Carson and Yoshi

Our neighbor, Rumi, was given some free tickets to MATSURI for Saturday and invited us to go. John was working and I did not think Madison would sit still for that long so Carson and I had a date. Carson LOVED the show. This show is formally known as Muscle Musical and it is just that. It is a high energy acrobatic show. In a few scenes, they make 'music' by slapping their legs and chests. If you have read earlier posts, you will know that we have met the cast at a house party a few weeks back. We just think they are all great.

Mischievous Madison

Sometimes, all you need is a box.

For some reason, the static is AWFUL this time of year here.

Madison's artwork.

Madison is a handful these days. At the same time, she is so much fun to be around. Her little vocabulary is off the charts. I've lost count of the number of words she has now. New words/phrases include: marshmallow, help me, outside, choo-choo, Matthew, muffin, waffle, and bottle. Her favorite activities include using anything and everything that ever resembles a bottle to her baby, aggravating Carson, and playing outside. She has figured out that she can push a stool anywhere in the house to reach the unreachable.

Ok, the story about the blue glitter: One morning, before Carson was awake, I was in the bathroom putting on my make up so that we could go to a playgroup. After a while of relative quiet, I decided that I should find out what Madison was up to. I found her standing on the couch with the empty bottle of blue glitter. I still do not know how she got it in the first place. I thought that it was where she could not get to it. This is not just any run of the mill glitter. It is a super fine almost powder like glitter that sticks to EVERYTHING. The glitter covered the couch, covered the floor, covered Madison, and covered her seat of the stroller. She had also tracked it into the toy room so there was a fine layer of it there too! *Sigh* Even after multiple attempts at vacuuming the couch, it still has a blue shimmer to it.

Pumpkin Patch

Madison telling me about the chicken on the table.

Carson and the turkey.

She actually picked up this pumpkin and carried it about 3 feet!

Carson was so proud of himself up on the horse!

Waiting for his hayride.

We took the kids to a 'ranch' south of town. We had so much fun! The ranch is such a cute little place. There are horses, ponies, goats, chickens and rabbits that roam freely, a donkey, 2 ducks, a turkey and a sheep. The first thing we did when we got there is walk into the barn to look at the horses. As soon as Carson saw one he wanted to be carried. Madison, who loves horses, was also afraid of the horses. So we then walked around and took pictures and looked at the other animals. Madison especially loved running around with the chickens. For the rest of the evening, Carson insisted that he wanted to ride the horse. John and I were skeptical of this judging from his reaction to the other horses but he persisted. He did great! He sat perched up on the horse like it was the most natural thing in the world for him. Madison also loved petting the horse. At one point I chased her across the yard because she was determined to go pet the horse again. The place also hosts birthday parties. We are debating a joint party for the kids next summer at the ranch.

Carson's Goose Egg

This is Carson's bump after he and his friend Matthew bumped heads on Monday. This was taken after the swelling had already reduced somewhat.

I had just calmed Madison down after she fell off of the kid's picnic table onto the concrete. I took Madison to her room to change her diaper and noticed the boys playing on Carson's bed. The next thing I know, both boys are screaming and running around the house looking for me. I found both boys running circles through our kitchen/living/dining area. I finally stopped Matthew and then Carson came around the corner. I always try to keep calm when one of the kids hurts themselves but I panicked for a moment when I initially saw Carson's head! After calming the boys down with a movie and ice packs I was able to get the story: Apparently Matthew wanted to go play outside and left Carson's room expecting Carson to follow. When he did not see Carson behind him, he ran back to Carson's room to find him. Carson was following, just a little slower. They ran into each other full speed, head on. Matthew got the best end of the deal with just a little redness from the impact.

MATSURI party

Carson's attempt to mimic the performers.

We recently had the privilege of meeting the cast of the show MATSURI. My neighbor knows them and invited us over. They are all from Japan and put on a very athletic/gymnastic/kung-fu type show. It looks amazing! I believe that six of them have Olympic medals. Some are professional actors/dancers in Japan. Overall, they were so very nice and just such a great group (and super with the kids!). We will be going to their show very soon.

At one point, I found Carson outside and let him know that we would be going home soon. Just to give him a heads-up. I went back inside and started talking and the next thing I know, Carson is nowhere to be found. Since the party was next door, I ran to our house and found Carson inside sitting in the toy room in a daze. He was sooo tired! What a relief! We had such a great time. If you are in Vegas in the next year, you should see this show.
