Best Friends

Carson and Madison are becoming such good friends. I love it!! They have so much fun together and they just absolutely adore each other. I don't think you could convince either of them that the other didn't hang the moon. Madison is beginning to imitate Carson and Carson thinks it is hilarious to mimick Madison. So the two of them will sit there and do the same thing over and over and have the best time doing it.

Carson has seen me check for teeth a few too many times.

Mommy's Lil Mess Maker

If it is possible to make a mess of anything, Madison can and will do it! In these pictures, Madison has virtually emptied John's underwear drawer. She has such a great time!

Mojave NP hike

We went for a hike on Saturday. As always we were on the receiving end of strange looks since we were carrying small children. Anyway...This is the peak. I don't know if you can see the 'bushes' in the background but they are actually Joshua trees and Juniper trees. We were quite a ways up. This pic was taken by a Japanese couple that was hiking ahead of us. They were very nice and friendly but spoke very little English.
This is the biggest Joshua tree that we have ever seen, which I guess isn't saying much since I had never seen one until we moved west.

Do you see the rocks on top of the 'hill'? That is where the trail ended. We are about a mile out at this point.

These two Joshua trees formed an arch over the trail. It was really neat.

Carson getting some hiking in.

This area was a big pile of boulders. John thinks they are lava rocks. They were everywhere but this one was of particular interest due to the little cave area.

The same lava rock area. Carson enjoyed climbing on top of this rock. The leap down into the tree on the right: not so much fun.
This was a neat area to see. I certainly would not call it a 'must see' of the area. The highlight of the day for Carson was peeing on a rock. It was actually a massive boulder and Carson practiacally hugged the thing to make sure he peed on it. It was too funny! Madison slept for a large portion of the hike but enjoyed it while awake.

Madison update

Madison REALLY likes to set her toys free these days. No toy should be held captive in a toy bin. She is becoming quite the expert on mess making.

Mom! You are disturbing me!
Are you talking to me?

She enjoyed her biter biscuit, in case you couldn't see.

We think Madison gets prettier every day! Her little tooth is getting big enough now that you can see it when she smiles. Her second one should be popping through. However, I've been saying that for the last month!
I am currently trying to capture her waving on video now. It is darling.
She is also becoming quite the handful. She can disappear in a split second. I usually find her standing up against the bathtub looking at the bath toys. She has recently decided that she no longer needs to lay still for diaper changes and she thinks the dogs are quite interesting, almost as much as her brother!

Pictures from the park.

Here are a few pics from our day at a local park. It was a little oasis in the middle of the desert. The kids loved watching all of the ducks, geese, swans, and other birds.

Daddy and Carson feeding the ducks.

This is now one of my favorite pictures of Madison!

Nothing too terribly exciting has been going on here lately. John has started his new job and is trying to shift to the night schedule this weekend. Carson is still working on potty training but I think finally has it down. He will actually go on his own now. Yea!!!
Madison on the other hand has been making leaps and bounds! She pulls up on everything and gets a little more brave with every attempt. She likes to test out her balance by holding on with one hand, the little daredevil. The poor thing has had many bumps and bruises on her little noggin lately. She is also turning out to be quite a little chatterbox. She and Carson can have entire conversations in the back seat of the car now.
Look at me!!

Uh Ohh!!

Gymnast in the making.

Ok, so I have a ton more pics to post but I am still trying to figure this whole thing out so bear with me and check back regularly!

'Great' story...

We were all in Carson's room last night playing. I still don't know why but that another story. Out of the blue he said, "This a great room, Madison, this great room, Carson's room." It was so funny to listen to in his little boy voice and accent. At least we know he likes his room! Great is the 'it' word for him right now. After we read a story he will say, "That a great story." So funny.

Madison is beginning to learn words. It is so exciting! She looks at John everytime she hears 'dada'. And of course she can say dada. This morning I said 'dog' and she looked at the dogs. So she knows at least 2 words. She is also pulling up on EVERTHING which means she is starting to bump her little head more often. :( She is so much fun right now. I can't wait until she can play with Carson a little more.

In the family news...there isn't much going on. We are still unpacking boxes, mostly in the garage. Our house is under contract. Woohoo! Everything looks good in that whole thing. We are still keeping our fingers crossed!
